In today’s world, it is not always easy to understand the complex issues. For students everywhere, and at all levels of higher education, Renditions provides thoughtful and informed pieces that cover a multitude of concerns. Whether your field of interest is business, philosophy, governmental politics, science, culture, the economics of the future, the influence of the past, the family, racism, humor, or equality, you’ll find in-depth analyses that bring to life the subjects you need to know—to keep you "in the know."
The book 'A Miscellany' is meant to be both instructive and entertaining. Before retirement in 2001, I worked mainly as a psychologist in the UK helping disabled and disadvantaged people to succeed in appropriate work roles. Many of the essays in the book are a testimony to my experience. The short stories are based, except for a few, on my own life experiences. The poems (verses) are more recent and are split equally between serious themes and light-hearted word play. There is a one-act play satirising modern pressure selling tactics. The book ends with an autobiographical note.
Making the right career choice has a profound impact on our lives. It influences our welfare, our sense of well-being and our state of mind. This book offers a thorough introduction to the principles and concepts of career development and shows how theoretical ideas can be put into counselling practice. It explores the major influences on careers counselling today, and examines the historical development of the field. The book ends with a look at the future development of career guidance and offers some helpful strategies for change. Counselling in Careers Guidance is a useful resource for experienced advisers and trainees in the careers service, and those offering careers guidance in a range of professional settings.
